The Photographic Collective aims to highlight the work produced by photographers and visual artists based in and from Africa, especially those who are not currently represented by a gallery. Launched in June 2020, the online platform aspires to grant visibility to emerging artists, research overlooked archives and champion new talent. While connecting different practitioners together, The Photographic Collective will offer a valuable source of information to anyone working in the field of African photography and visual culture through carefully selected works and an interactive gallery accessible to all. The platform aims to favour exchanges between lens-based artists, curators, academics, students and collectors and contribute to discussions surrounding the medium of photography in an African context. The Photographic Collective est une initiative à but non lucratif mettant en avant des photographes et artistes originaires et basés en Afrique, en particulier ceux dont le travail n'est actuellement pas représenté par une galerie. Inaugurée en juin 2020, la plateforme vise à présenter le travail d'artistes émergeants, des archives encore inconnues et des jeunes talents sur un site en ligne accessible à tous. The Photographic Collective a pour mission de devenir une source d'informations pour quiconque intéressé par ou faisant des recherches dans le domaine de la photographie africaine (curateurs, photographes, académiques, collectionneurs).
